A question while we are working on content for the resource center...

Should the InvenTube homepage be "content rich"? Currently there's not much text on the homepage, should this be an issue?

Also, did you locate the PHP fix yet, and I was noticing in the joomla part of the site. The "resource center" where the majority of content will be added. The URL's are very long and drawn out. Here is an example a URL for basic patent information: Inventube Resource Center - Patent Pending Status

I did a search for inventube and patents and this did not even register. Is this something that we also should touch upon?

Hi,

A content rich home page never hurts in the search engines if it is optimized correctly. A home page should be like a cover of a book...needs to summarize the entire book and convince people to open it.

It is more important that your home page links to internal pages correctly. Sometimes to rank fast for keywords you can build the links into your left/right hand menu or your footer. We may want to experiment with a small section on your home page that links to each article you write.

In regards to your SEF URLs. Joomla does have mods you can purchase (like $30) and have us install. WebBizIdeas.com currently uses:

One of my programmers who has worked on Joomla for years recommends:

What one to choose:

The one on WebBizIdeas.com works well...but at times I need to log into my PHPADMIN and make modifications to our database to make it work...could be a large learning curve.

My programmer said he has never had problems with the one he uses for sites. I will have to learn it to help you but I can always get you in contact with him if you run into problems.

I suggest reading what other people think from the links above and getting back to me on which one you want to use.

I just did a basic search for content that i KNEW would be in the patenting section of the InvenTube resource center. Such as searching for "InvenTube patenting". So when I googled this term, the resource center pages that explain just want patents are did not even come up in the google listings.

In this SEO campaign will we also be "optimizing" the content management section (joomla) part of the site?

YES, this is the short answer. I will help you optimize your entire sitie.

YES, this is the long answer. We are cover SEO from A to Z. When we get a few examples under our belt (first one "African American Inventors) you will have a much better idea on what needs to be done on new content & old content. The more keyword phrases we target the better you will become at understanding how to optimize...any keyword...any web page...any website for that matter.

Let me show you how you should organize your meta tags:

Current Title: Inventube Resource Center - DeBetta Enterprises- BLOG

Your main "Resource" section already is optimized for 'Inventube Resource Center' so you don't need that again. You want the keyword you are trying to optimize first and you also want an appealing title so someone actually clicks on it; try this:

Jim DeBetta - Official DeBetta Enterprises Invention Blog

If I was searching for "Jim DeBetta" or DeBetta Enterprises" I would be interested on clicking on the "Official" blog of Jim Debetta. Plus you have the keyword 'invention' in the title...someone might throw that keyword in to.

Hi,

In fact lets get you in the top 10 in Google, Yahoo, and MSN for the keyword " Jim DeBetta" and "DeBetta Enterprises." Once you make the changes to the Meta Title do the following:

1 Change the text in blue "DeBetta Enterprises- BLOG" on the page to say "Jim DeBetta - Official DeBetta Enterprises Invention Blog"

2. Change the description & keywords from what it is now:
<meta name="description" content="Joomla - the dynamic portal engine and content management system" />
<meta name="keywords" content="Joomla, joomla" />to text that coincides with the page...may need to wait for the SEF Mod to be installed

3. We need to get other pages linking to the site.

(A) Create accounts on some of the following social bookmarking sites:

Social Bookmarking Sites | Link Building Tool

and bookmark Jim DeBetta Blog. This will create backlinks for you.

(B) Find out who else will link to this blog. Will Jim DeBetta link to the page from his site? Do you know of invention forums you can past the link in?

You need to get people to link to this page so Google says, "Yeah, this web page is about Jim DeBetta, other people think it is about Jim DeBetta, so I am going to rank it higher than all the other web pages that talk about Jim DeBetta.

***NOTE: If at all possible the link going to the blog should be "Jim DeBetta" or "DeBetta Enterprises" This is what is called "anchor text." It tells search engines what the site is about...can't get much info from "click here now."
